During May/June of 2014, Third Floor View at the Kankakee Public Library displayed 8 of my photographs. As their promo noted: "Ahrens' photography reminds us to find peace in life with an invitation to lie down in the grass and contemplate the huge, wide open sky above."

"within"
enjoy sample images from a series of photographs i have captured of wildflowers and weeds along roadsides utilizing the sky as a backdrop. i call this series, "within." common plants, "weeds," transform into beautiful works of art from an uncommon ground-up perspective. viewers are taken on a journey within foliage to see a bug's-eye-view. i have found these images inspiring - breathtaking. sometimes insects surprisingly appear in final images

Photography featured with Vida
Some of my photography images are featured on items such as modal scarves, blouses, pillows and sheer wraps sold through Vida.
Please read this description of Vida as published in Fashion Times:
"Vida, an e-commerce platform that promotes socially responsible shopping, couldn't be more appropriate.
The site, founded by Pakistan native Umaimah Mendhro, utilizes a unique manufacturing model that aims to bridge the gap between designers, artists, producers and consumers. The designers that Vida works with submit sketches that are scanned and digitally printed onto scarves and tops — the two products Vida has launched with — by Vida's manufacturers, which are based in India and Pakistan.
The designers are artists from a wide-range of disciplines, including painting, photography, graphic design, sculpting, architecture, textiles and print design. By partnering with Vida, these global designers are given exposure and an opportunity to make some extra cash.
'Initially, we went out and looked at fashion weeks all around the world. We looked at design schools and to brands to watch out for — emerging talent around the world, not just places that are the usual suspects for fashion,' Mendhro told us of how she found artists to work with.
As for the manufacturers, Mendhro said she met with dozens of factories, producers and textile mills to find partners who produce high quality products without sacrificing the well being of their employees.
'We wanted to partner with people who really care about the community [and are] producing in a responsible way and creating a positive difference,' Mendhro told us.
Vida makes sure the people producing its products have livable wages, and the company also offers three-month literacy and math programs. Mendhro said she believes today's consumer cares deeply about the way in which its clothing is made, and it's important for shoppers to feel connected with the items they buy."
