Puppy Dog Eyes (series)
This series of small studies began with a dog named Hope. She was a senior rescue dog that was found severely malnourished and deaf wandering down a country road. She enjoyed her last years in a foster home. For the local humane organization that cared for her, I created an art fund-raising endeavor called "Faces of Hope." Artists created images of her using photos that I provided. Each piece was auctioned. My piece in graphite focused on one of her eyes (shown here). She was a poster dog of hope for abandoned pets; thus the fund-raising project title, "Faces of Hope." Her eyes could tell stories we’d never know, just like the eyes of all pets. That’s where my series title was born, "Puppy Dog Eyes." Not all dogs featured in my series are rescued animals.
